D iscount retailer B&M has sold 250,000 paddling pools, 200,000 water pistols and 50,000 patio sets this summer as the UK heatwave prompted shoppers to spend on summer goods.
The company reported its best ever season for its summer ranges as consumers snapped up garden furniture and barbecues, despite “sluggish” conditions elsewhere on the high street.
Revenue for B&M shops rose 8.3pc in the three months to the end of June to £648.3m, although on a like-for-like basis the increase was only 1.3pc. Overall revenues for the group rose 21.3pc to £796.3m.
